Mozilla has officially released Firefox 1.5 (C2) to the general public and the popular internet browser is available on their website for downloading. According to the organization there are improvements with the performance of the back and forward buttons, faster navigation and operation, a new and improved options menu, a new safe mode and a new way to drag-and-drop the browser tabs. The release not only affects Windows users but the Macintosh OS X (version 10.2 and higher) version as well.
While Mozilla reported on their website that they one-millionth download of the browser occurred in October and the browser popularity continues to grow steadily, Microsoft's Internet Explorer still is the top dog in the browser race. According to OneStat's press release on November 2nd, IE tops the list with 85.5% of the market worldwide, Firefox's growth continues coming in second at 11.5% and all other browsers eat up the remaining 3%.
It is somewhat interesting however, that when Microsoft releases the new version of their operating system, Vista, an upgrade to Internet Explorer will be released as well. The computer mega-giant has already stated that their browser will not be in line with the latest World Wide Web (W3) Consortium standards, however Mozilla says that this new version is in compliance.
